I’m working with a very good friend of mine who lives in LA and we will be shooting a pilot for a new reality show the first weekend in December. We could use your help.
reality-tvWe have several ideas to choose from but want your feedback and input on which idea we should pursue. If you have an original idea of your own I want to hear that as well. Who knows your idea may be the one we choose. Some information you might find useful is the show will target young adults (twenty-something’s) of all races and must be positive and inspirational. In other words, there must be a purpose to the show. Some of these ideas are more developed than others but I still want to hear which ones jump out and grab you. If you were going to spend 30-minutes to an hour every week watching a reality show which of these would move you to do so:

1) Three college students take $500 each and perform as many random acts of kindness as possible, meeting the most legitimate needs, in 24 hours anonymously.
2) (Second Chance)-Take a young adult that has messed up in life (Maybe someone that has been in prison for 12-24 months….) and give them a second chance in life. Through life coaching and dream casting, find their gifts and passions and connect them with an individual or organization that they would have never had access to that will give them a second chance. We can also periodically do follow-up stories highlighting successes.
3) Wide Awake-Take a twenty-something with a big dream but no resources or connections and help bring that dream to life. It must have a humanitarian element.
4) Take several individuals or a couple of groups and give them $100-$500 and they have 24 hours to turn it into as much money as possible and then use that money to meet a need either locally or globally. It has a bit of an apprentice element to it in that they will have to take the money and turn it into more very quickly. The bottom line will be to impact as many people as possible with the money raised.
5) Take three college students and give them each a hand-held video camera and they go shoot video of different people sharing their stories. The most compelling story gets them both $500.
6) (Heroes) Three college students compete for a chance to spend 60-minutes with someone they admire and pick their brain to learn as much as they can from them.
7) (Shadow) We have two ideas using this concept. The first one is we spend the day following (shadowing) an under-appreciated young adult that is making an impact in their community and tell their story, sort of “A day in the life of…”. The second idea is that we take a young adult and arrange for them to be able to “shadow” a person of influence for a day and walk in their shoes.
8) (Selflessness) Take someone that has a need and expose that person to someone else that has a need and then ultimately give him or her choice of having their own need met or the need of the person they just met.
9) (Compassion) Take someone that has been done wrong by someone and have that person perform an act of kindness for the person that has wronged him or her even though they don’t deserve it.
10) (Big Event)- Many shifts in mental models begin with a single event. We give a group $500 and seven days to put together the biggest event they can that will have the maximum impact. There has to be a reason behind it all and a goal of reaching, impacting as many people as possible.
11) The Power of One- Look at different things that are impacting the world that started with just one…one person, one dream, one dollar, etc. and tell their story.
12) Pay it Forward- Start with one act of kindness we initiate and see how far it can/will be paid forward.

Either post a comment here on my blog or send me an email at bobby@bobbyminor.com. By Wednesday we will narrow down the list to the top three choices.
